This presentation will offer an overview of the Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA) activities and scientific areas of AESLA with a focus on the possible connections with the goals of AIALA, as can be the creation of collaborative research networks with scholars from the other member associations.
The Spanish Society for Applied Linguistics (AESLA, "Asociación Española de Lingüística Aplicada) has already a well-established academic history since its founding almost 40 years ago (in 1982). Its dynamism within the scientific community in Spain has attracted a significant number of researchers, and now integrates around 700 affiliates and a good number of institutional associates. One of the main goals of AESLA is to promote the dissemination of research in applied linguistics and in languages with other institutions and related scientific associations as well. Because of this, our participation in the recent creation of AIALA and the promotion of collaboration with the other members of this new Region in AILA is one priority for AESLA's Board. This presentation will offer an overview of the organization, activities and scientific areas of AESLA with a focus on the possible connections with the goals of AIALA, as can be the creation of collaborative research networks with scholars from the other member associations.
