This case study examines the extent to which universities represent corporate institutions that can be evaluated relative to the "best practice" principles documented within the fields of business ethics and business communication. When it comes to faculty recruitment and its attendant communication processes, universities chronically fail to treat unsuccessful job seekers with even a minimal level of professional courtesy--and quite ironically, they tend to do so when recruiting for positions foregrounding communication skills.
