The presentation describes the professionalization instruments of the Goethe-Institut's continuing education and professional development series DEUTSCH LEHREN LERNEN (Learn To Teach German), which guide observation, reflection and fearless experimentation. Here is the question, how this concept can be meaningfully implemented within the framework of university cooperation.
Reflection on one's own teaching, which enables change and personal development, must be professionally guided (Mohr & Schart, 2016). To do this, trainers need materials, instruments and moderation techniques for group work processes that guide observation, reflection and fearless experimentation. The Goethe-Institut has developed professionalization instruments within the framework of its own continuing education and professional development series DEUTSCH LEHREN LERNEN (DLL) (Learn To Teach German), which initiate reflected experiential learning. The presentation gives an insight into the task-oriented observation of lessons with video recordings in different settings worldwide. The Practical Exploration Projects (PEPs) are presented, which initiate the exploration of one's own teaching in exchange with other teachers. A worldwide survey of DLL trainers (Legutke & Rotberg, 2017) has shown the positive effects of these small research projects and where the challenges lie, especially in the supervision of the participants. The increasing worldwide demand from universities that integrate DLL into their study programs raises the question of how to link theory and practical implementation in this context.
